“We don’t want a Speaker for our holiday party, we want someone to make us laugh, do entertainment, no business talk…just fun!”

Loud and clear, this client wanted what we call in showbiz “The Show”.

Oddly, I said yes, and we booked the date for December.

When I say, “oddly”, perhaps you don’t know what that means!

Well, it has been a few years since I have accepted what I deem as “Show Dates”.

Doing “The Show” has physically and emotionally beaten me up since 2000, almost permanently damaging my vocal cords by 2012.

I have done (maybe) 1 special show per year in the past half decade.

But over the last 2.5 months, as I’ve stared at a ceiling fan in my bedroom and considered my life’s work, while dealing with a debilitating injury, I have made a few new choices that have big changes coming in my life and career.

Doing my Show again is one of those.

Since 2016 I have essentially turned away every single show request in favor of only SPEECH opportunities.

It has been a harsh rebrand, as many former clients wanted the “Make Us Laugh ONLY Jason”, vs. the “Make Us Think, Leave Us Inspired, Educate Us, AND Make Us Laugh Jason.”

Funny enough, I do all of those things in every presentation, labeled Speech or Show, whether you realize it or not.

Your attendees go away having laughed their guts out while growing their hearts in Grinch-epic proportions… if that’s what they needed.

The Event Planner needs the laughs, the music, the entertainment. I get it. And that’s what I’m doing once again.

Here’s what I’ve come to – Jason The Keynote Speaker is finally fully established after what I might label one of the worst transitionary experiences someone can endure.

I’ll spare you the details and the stories of literally millions of dollars I have lost in turning away full fee show opportunities in order to speak for next to nothing as I established The Promise and Jason The Keynote Speaker.

Eventually people got the picture. I lost most of my clientele. I slowly but surely created a new following as Jason The Keynote Speaker, and now make better fees than I ever did as Jason The Entertainer doing The Show.

Why would I bring this back, you ask?  Fair question.

The WHY was driven by the How, which I’ll explain below, but the main WHY is:

The Promise is a full entertainment experience – I just couldn’t figure out HOW to deliver it that way.  In my mind it had to be a Keynote Speech, but I always wanted it to go both ways.

WHY this matters is that I HAD TO BELIEVE IT FOR MYSELF, and I had to lose my own physical capability to see what I still had left to deliver.

I have written quite a bit about how my leg injury has been a divine kick to the knee…this is part of that gift for my being injured into complete immobilization, and I finally formulated in my mind, while lying in bed recovering, how The Show is The Promise is The Show.

What this means is that Jason The Entertainer doing The Show is back!

I have figured out how to offer my best material in Show form, while not compromising a few things that made my performance of The Show impossible:

  • I still keep my voice – that was the main reason for my transition to Speaker
  • I still share the stories that matter, in high comedy fashion
  • I have graduated from the “physicality performer” relying on my body to make the sale of the Show and comedy – obviously, if you follow my journey, you may realize that breaking my leg had a great part in helping me come to this post
  • Within the Entertainment, Comedy & Music is the message I’ve always brought along anyway, and yet it doesn’t feel like I’m sharing a message, it’s just the overarching story of a great performance
  • The costumes are out – those from the video have been retired as well – most were lost on airplanes through the years (yet I don’t have any newer footage of myself doing the show without them), so please bear with me for a moment while I figure things out, but costumes aren’t a part of this anymore!

My friend, I am blown away by the realization of my own progression as much as everyone else that has wondered where Jason The Entertainer has been.

What’s amazing is that I recently had someone come up to me and say, “You’re Jason Hewlett, The Author!”

I was floored.

I asked how they knew I was an Author.  They had received my book from a leader who insisted they read, “The Promise To The One”.

As we spoke I was astounded by all this person recalled about my book, how it made them feel, and how they saw me in their mind’s eye.

I offered, “Well, it would be great for you to attend one of my speeches or shows in the future…”

To which the person said, “What do you mean?”

I said, “As you know, I perform at events and it would be fun to have you see the comedy, music, and other things I referred to in the book.”

The person said, “I was just hoping to read the next books you’re going to write, I didn’t even realize you’re a performer, even though you wrote that, I see you as the best author I’ve ever read and want more books from you.”

A small tear fell from my eye.

Jason The Author!  I love that this person could read my entire book, all about my entertainment journey, and only wanted more of my writing!  Unreal.  That is what I want in the future as well.

But right now, Jason The Entertainer returns.  The Show is Back and it’s amazing.  It is my Greatest Hits over 20+ years of standing ovation performances.

In the past 2 weeks I have done this show multiple times as a trial run, once in Vegas, once out of the country, a few times in my home state, all to rave reviews.

Standing Ovations and shouts of Encore, along with requests of returning in the future.

The Show is back!

Please tell your peers, your event planners, your meeting professional friends.  Holiday parties are starting to book up since word got out.

And if they only know me as Jason The Keynote Speaker, or Jason The Author, please tell them, “If you thought that was good, you should see Jason The Entertainer do The Show!”

  1. So excited for all you have to offer. Best wishes and looking forward for more to come from the author, speaker and performer!

  2. Jason, I first need to apologize for not contacting you when you had your accident. I meant to many times but for whatever reason my brain went another direction. I’m so sorry for that. Now, for the good news. I am so so excited you have decided to bring your show back because it’s without a doubt the number one corporate entertainment value on the planet! As you know, as an agent I was extremely upset when you said you wouldn’t be doing your entertainment show anymore, but I totally understood because YOU knew you had something else to offer the world. I am so pleased that you have decided to share the amazing, clever, and funny side of your brain. Unfortunately I am pretty much retired from doing corporate bookings anymore however this might just give me the incentive to yell it from the rooftops that your BACK! Please let me know if you get to St. George or even Vegas, I would love to come and see your new/old show.

    1. Wow John, great to hear from you and thank you for the kind and encouraging words. It’s very much a Greatest Hits experience, integrating new impressions of new artists has been very difficult, whereas the sharing of stories, mixed with voices and other that you’ve seen makes for a very nice show and Promise journey. I share a lot about Danny Gans, my family, parents, teachers, and of course all of the voices that don’t hurt. I would love for you to open the old book and see if there is any interest with old clients, we never know who might still be around, maybe we can make some magic happen once again. Just not more coupons to Perkins as payment (LOL). Love and miss you brother.

    1. Hahaha! Mostly corporate for now, but hoping in the future for other opportunities publicly. I will post here when those happen.

  3. Nice my man! I can relate so deeply to the physical toll. But love that you are finding a way to amplify – magnify – make it work.

Writing this after my second night of 4 hrs of sleep (following two exhausting nights of shows and unplanned international travel…)

    1. Love you man. So proud of you and grateful for the messages you’ve sent about the great experiences you’re having living The Promise.

  4. Jason, Will never forget you! My husband and I laughed til we had tears of joy as you performed at our Shaklee convention some years ago! Glad you’re back. Best to your future! Pam

  5. Sign me up! I’ve seen your show 3 times and I really want my parents to go. How do we find out about tickets?

    1. Amanda, you are Amazing. Thank you for asking. At this point, it’s still just private corporate shows that I’ll mostly be doing, however, I hope to have some opportunities in the public sector you can attend. When they happen they will be posted here and on my social media. Thank you!

  6. You filled my heart, my cup and my mind with so much joy. This was my first experience seeing you perform and deliver. The best part was your vulnerability, your transparency and your resiliency with the words that you shared. I am so excited about you breaking records like never before🕺🍾🔈 This is more than a come back this is a new beginning! RISE RISE RISE

    1. Oh my goodness! Lori, when and where did we meet? I’d love to know. Thank you so much for such uplifting words, you have blessed my heart today. Thank you.

  7. You’re right! You gave so much depth and we have been craving more of that from you. I’m so proud of you for reinventing yourself in this very difficult transition!! Of course we love laughing with you too! I’m excited you are doing all of the above! I can’t wait to hear more! 🥳

  8. Wishing only the best for you! You have shown time and time again your ability to entertain and share uplifting messages that empower and lift. How about bringing your show to Myrtle Beach? You still have fans here!

    1. Thank you Cheri! It would be amazing to return. I miss Myrtle Beach – hoping someday I can figure out how to return.
