What Would You Do?
Upgraded from Coach to First Class on my flight to Atlanta and sat in my big comfy seat.
Woman seated beside me hands her special pillow to the man passing us, as her husband walks by and sits behind us.
In Coach.
I asked, “Is that your husband?”
She said, “Yes”.
Turning around I said, “Sir, do you mind if we trade seats so you can sit with your lovely bride?”
You would have thought I handed him a $1,000 check.
Grateful and shocked he sat next to his wife in First Class while I took my seat happily in Coach.
He looked back and said, “Thank you so much, that was so very thoughtful of you.”

This post isn’t to say yay for me, as I know anyone would do the same, but the question is how often do we take advantage of our chance to serve others when we notice the opportunity?
Especially nowadays.
We just need to keep our eyes open and our hearts in that place that allows us to give where we can.
Make a new friend
Take care of each other.

Funny twist to the story –
Before the plane takes off, the man who took my place in First Class was suddenly upgraded to First Class anyway!
So he gave me his seat!
We laughed and are new friends.
Funny how these things work out.
What Promises have you made to yourself to be mindful and aware of the needs of others, and how have you acted on those impressions?

Thank you for sharing this story. And no, I don’t think just anyone would have made done the same. Most people would think that you sacrificed something, though I had the impression that you were going to be in coach before the upgrade anyway, which you ended up losing nothing but bringing great joy to someone else. If everyone was willing to do that the world would be a better place (Congrats on the second upgrade, instant Karma).
Exactly! I lost nothing, as it was a gift to be upgraded anyway. Instant Karma is funny, too! haha. Thank you for the comment Adam.
Love this story! Thank you for sharing another reminder of the importance of just paying attention and putting others first. Your commitment to keeping your promise and your nudges for us to do the same are powerful and lovely. Thanks again!
That is so kind of you Diana. Thank you. I know you do the same!
