Are All Canadians Like This?

Did you see the video of the Canadian ice skater who took 3rd place but ended up being a hero in Japan?

As you can see, this is The Promise of Kindness, Awareness, and Perfect Sportsmanship.

In 2022, if you are willing to take your airpods out and notice what is happening around you, I Promise you will have opportunities to do things for others that will bless their lives in a way they can’t repay, which will bring you the ultimate feeling of purpose and joy.

The Promise is a choice – to live a higher standard, to see what others need, to serve before being asked, to give what only you can.

In this way, you become a HERO.

I love so much that Canadian figure skater, Keegan Messing, realizes once the musical anthem starts for his competitor and gold medalist, Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu, that there is no flag facing his fellow athlete and reacts without guile.  Seemingly without flinching or second-guessing himself to do the right thing, Messing holds the corner of the Japanese flag to display it properly for a stunned audience and Hanyu.

Hanyu bows to his country’s flag, and offers an even deeper bow of gratitude to Messing, for such a gesture of respect.

As reported by the CBC: “Keegan Messing might be the most beloved person in Japan right now.”

In a world filled with disrespect for opponents, where beliefs and displays can be torn down and criticized, may we all make The Promise to hold up the flag for any friend or foe, and utilize our unique Signature Moves to show respect to others, love to our neighbors, kindness and compassion at every turn.

In doing so, we change the world with our leadership one moment at a time, and very well may inspire someone else to do the same.

This is The Promise.
