Jason Hewlett

Happy to be in the loading dock – Delta Center SLC, UT

I am consistently promised a good parking spot for the events I speak and perform for – to make for easier load in, convenience, and to feel extra special.

Truthfully, I am consistently disappointed by the broken promises of event planners who forget to follow through with The Parking Promise.

However, once in a while, a miracle happens, and the parking spot comes through! It’s so rare, in fact, you get a post about it.

Saturday night, September 7, 2024, I had the opportunity to perform at the Delta Center in my town, SLC, Utah – home of the Utah Jazz.

I truly thought this is where I would make a living someday doing a different profession…watch the video below to find out!

The last time I was promised a loading dock spot, I brought my entire family and was shamefully turned away by the security guard because “Jason Hewlett” was not on the manifest.

We parked 1/4 mile away from the arena, on a snowy, freezing day.

So this time I decided not to bring my family just in case I was turned away…and lo and behold! I was let in!

My wife arrived later in the evening for the event, my part was received so well that I was asked to be a part of a tour across America for a few more cities, which is awesome.

But the real win today is: They kept the Promise to me, and I got to park where I was told I would get to.

When a Promise is broken so many times, you just assume it will always be broken.

So, when The Promise is kept, you are extra grateful, and you make a blog post about something as inconsequential as a parking spot.

The simple part of The Promise Philosophy is: Make a Promise and Keep it.

Do what you say you’re going to do.

When you do, people are happier…even the simplicity of a parking promise.
