The Honor of Service: Officer David Romrell

This past week I performed at an event every day.

Decembers are like that.

However, this December has been different.

A few corporate dates sprinkled in between some very heart-wrenching charity work and service.

It is a privilege to be asked to lift the wounded through music, laughter, and message.  Yet it can be equally daunting when it’s for such serious and powerful moments for those grieving.

I shared the following posts on Facebook regarding being asked to sing a Bruno Mars song for the funeral of fallen officer, and former Marine, David Romrell.

You can tell by that video that I was unusually nervous for the moment, and then my reaction following the event:

This week was one of a greater consideration of life and our Promise to live a good one.

I know my performance wasn’t the point of the event, it wasn’t even a blip on the radar and really in the overall scheme of things didn’t matter if it was great or amazing or not good at all.

What matters is that we answer the call to serve.

The honor of service is a great one.

At funerals, the word SERVICE is pretty much what is spoken of, in what ways the deceased served others, blessed lives, kept promises, and lived a worthy existence.

David Romrell and his family have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.  There can be no greater gift.  How I stand in awe at those that run to the danger and give of self for strangers and our freedoms.

Here is the entire funeral service if you want to see the inspiring life of this man, and the way those he served with honored him, it was stunning: https://www.facebook.com/abc4utah/videos/204877387106602/?hc_location=ufi

The same day we honored President George H. W. Bush, one of the greatest men that ever served our country.

A man of service.

What is your level of service?  Is it perfect service?  Probably not.  The important thing is the intention of service.

Where is your heart?  What is your calling?  How can you serve those around you this holiday season at another level of giving?

I wish you the best as we all strive to keep The Promise, become Legendary Leaders, and always remember the honor of service.
