Welcome to Part 2 of The Promise to The Family
(If you missed it, CLICK HERE for Part 1: The Business Family: AKA “The Team”)
There are 2 types of families: Personal & Business
On a Personal level, there is a FAMILY for which we work, stay disciplined, and bring home the bacon. This may be your family in your home, comprised of spouse, kids, pets. For others the Family may be paternal relations, or perhaps dear, dear friends who make up roommates and associates. And then there are communities, could be religious, health, or those with a purpose of doing service and welfare. Your definition of FAMILY may be way different than your neighbors, either way, you HAVE a family, whether you believe it or not.
Here’s mine, they’re pretty cute:
WHO is your Family?
How are you showing trust, respect, giving 100% even when the hours are long and you are exhausted?
As a Dad I’ve found days on the road tires me out, but that doesn’t mean my obligation to keep my Promise to my kids is over. Just because I gave all my energy to keeping the Promise to The Audience doesn’t mean my kids have to pay for that. Once I come home, am I fully PRESENT or am I thinking of where I just came from?
These are difficult things to maneuver, but if we’re willing to be our best always and keep the Promise to our loved ones, then coming home off the road energizes us to start afresh with our family, as I like to illustrate in my Daddy Dinosaur impression from my “Father Time” DVD:
How do you keep your Promise to The Family? At Work and at Home?
What Promises have you broken that must be addressed right away?
Don’t wait. Make the needed corrections immediately and go after it. The FAMILY is waiting for you, needs you, depends on you, and CHOSE you.
Don’t just commit. Make a PROMISE!
