John B. Hewlett, Legendary Performer

In June 2018 I had the unique opportunity to speak to the Million Dollar Round Table with over 15,300 in the audience in Los Angeles, CA.

I had submitted my name for 17 years to get on their stage and it finally happened.

What the audience didn’t realize is that I was very familiar on a personal level with their company and industry due to my father’s work in my youth.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share a story like this, as well as have my father in the audience.

Hope you enjoy, and don’t just read this post, you have to watch the video.

Story from your industry to begin talking about the audience itself:

There was a man, he decided to go to college.

As he’s figuring out whether to be a doctor, a lawyer, very capable man, he decided to take a part time job selling life insurance.

Pretty soon, he realized he was making more money than his professors, and he left college.

When he went and told his wife, “I think I’m going to go be a life insurance agent, she went really? Okay. I thought you were going to college. No I’m going to do this, I’m a salesman.”

He became a Million Dollar Round Table member very quickly.

Over 25 years this man did extraordinary things.

His children had no idea how great he was, what type of a legendary performer, although they knew every trip he came back from he had a plaque for the wall. He had plaques all over the house that said Million Dollar Round Table.

A Legendary Performer.

When his children were asked, hey what does your dad do for a living? They said, “He’s either a golfer or a basketball fan, we don’t know. He takes all of his clients to play golf. He takes all of his clients to the basketball games and sits on the front row.”

His Signature Moves became known as the cheerleader of everyone, the great encourager, a legend in his industry of life insurance.

He was the top in the world for many years, all throughout my youth.

Ladies and gentlemen, I’m talking about my own father, his name is John Hewlett, and he is a legend of the life insurance industry. And he’s right there.

My dad is here today, what a blessing.

I remember when I came to him and he said, “So you’re going to go into insurance and carry it on?” And I said, “No I want to be a performer.”

That was disappointing obviously.

But what a great encourager, he said, “I will help you do anything you need to make it in this business”. And along with my mother, this family of mine helped me create what I have created today.

And although it took me 40 years to get on this stage, Dad this one’s for you today. So thank you, I love you.

Every time someone comes up to me and says, “You’re John Hewlett’s son? Let me tell you about how great he is,” they share his Signature Moves.

We all have something that makes us stand out, and are we sharing it?

Post Script: I failed to mention from the stage that he had left the industry over a decade ago, and we were attacked by people wanting his photo all over town.  It was hilarious and fun.

The industry he tackled next has given health and wellness to tens of thousands worldwide and is changing lives.  It’s changed mine.  If you have someone suffering from heart disease, diabetes, or blood pressure challenges please consider reading about this amazing formulation: CardioMiracle

  1. In late summer of 2012, I was at a health-wellness retreat in my hometown of Hamilton Montana hosted by a man named John Hewlett. John said I should join him in the wellness industry. I told him, “No” … I was pursuing a speaking career. John said, “You can just be in the wellness industry part-time while you’re pursuing your speaking business…. Oh, by the way, my son is a speaker.”

I told John I was a member of NSA-Mountain West, John said, “So is my son!” I asked, “what’s your last name?” John replied, “Hewlett … my son’s name is Jason, Jason Hewlett” … I didn’t tell John that I never heard of his son. I had only been a member of the Chapter for about a year … but I had met many of the chapter members. I didn’t tell John that I thought he was spinning a tale … I’m glad I didn’t.

Within the next few months I got to know Jason. Over the next few years Jason mentored me. I remember Jason coaching me, ‘Your job from this day forward to to make others look good.’ Jason was encouraging me. Jason was telling me to be the same person that his father was. The same person that he is. An encourager.

I’m glad I met John Hewlett and I’m glad he introduced me to his son. John gave me the gift of Jason just as he’s given all of use the gift of Jason.

    Thank you John Hewett!

  2. Jason, What a profound blessing to be able to honor your father in this way.
I am still wiping away tears. He seemed so proud of you and grateful to be your father and to have you as his son.
