Jason Hewlett parody of Journey Open Arms as Broken Arms
When someone thinks of you, what do you want them to recall?
While they interact with you the next time, what can they ...expect?
This is The Promise.
For some it is the service rendered with abundant care;
For others the perfectly written article;
For many it is showing up every day no matter what life throws at them.
Each of us bring something unique, wonderful, and carefully crafted in our performance. It is our Signature Move.
This video is simply my variation on a greatest hit by Journey, with my own comical Signature Move spin on it, that makes the audience never hear it the same again when Open Arms comes on in the future. It brings an immediate laugh, and is impressive in that I kind of sound like them, and serves as an icebreaker when I open both my show and keynote speech.
This bit in and of itself is not my only "greatest hit", but in combination with all the pieces I perform, brings the experience to a new level of helping audience members realize we all have something great to share when we raise our voice, stand on the shoulders of giants, and go for it in our own unique way.

When do you go ALL IN? Fully present! It matters on Zoom calls with our teams, one-on-one lunches with our phones ...face down on the table, and especially with our kids. I call it The Promise of Being Present!
For years, Daddy Dinosaur has been a home run routine in my speeches and shows, while teaching The Promise of Being Present, in a funny and wild way. I have updated this one many times and ways, including talking more recently about how The Raptor shows up when my daughter's Prom date arrived...but this is a throwback to a piece that has gone viral a few times and recordings.
Hope you enjoy, as this is a clip from my Hale Centre Theatre shows #ThePromiseShow More

When they grew into teens, it ...was no longer cool for Daddy to do this fun impression of a Raptor anymore, especially around their friends.
Yet, when my daughter was asked to prom as a high schooler and Luke showed up for the date, the Raptor reappeared.
It is my job as a dad to mess with my kids, no matter their age! That is The Promise.
(*for the parents who still have young kids: yes it's cliché, but truly it goes by quicker than you realize, so please be a raptor as much as possible before they don't want it anymore!)Show More

It took me many years of training and focus, staring in the mirror, testing and trying, ...studying facial muscle charts, eventually the nose began to move independent of other parts of my face! It was a miracle, partly genetics, part insanity to think it could be possible.
While you were working on reading, writing and arithmetic, I was working on this. Thankful it has served me my whole life through, spreading joy to the unsuspecting, sharing my Signature Moves, keeping The Promise - even when people don't know they want to see it!
What you work on serves you, but you must share it to bless the lives of others in order to keep The Promise.Show More

For over 2 decades I have shared this comical story about my face with audiences worldwide, oftentimes to huge laughs and applause, occasionally to barely a chuckle, yet never wavering to share that which makes me exclusively unique as a performer and speaker: Here's the weird stuff I can do with my face!
As much as this is comedy, it is teaching.
As much as this is funny, it is inspiring.
As much as this is bizarre, it gives hope.
For some, they watch this routine and have tears from laughter, while the person next to them is inspired to no longer hide their gift, as the person next to them is just plain ol' disturbed. Add it all together, and that's my career.
How do you keep The Promise by sharing what makes you the incredible, talented, and amazing person you are? Because "That's Your Gift!"Show More
“Jason Hewlett’s amazing!”

Jason Hewlett sings Bob Dylan's Mr Tambourine Man
He had a most unique style as a singer, combining the harmonica with ...guitar, and lyrically changed the game as a poet with political angles, aspirational considerations, and telling the harsh truth of the landscape.
I used to do this song with a guitar but my sons have now confiscated it, practicing his music for their future concerts, I presume.
What's the best Bob Dylan song in your opinion?Show More

For 3 decades now I have sung this song in every performance, regardless of the time of year, I ...just love it that much.
In fact, 25 years ago, I was slated to do a 15 minute set at my first corporate holiday part, but due to the way the night went, the client told me to just sing this song and they would still pay me $100.
I thought, "Wow, $100 for one song? That's like $100 a minute! I should make a living doing this!"
It was the song with which I auditioned for the high school choir as my teacher, Mrs. Hall, said it was "not normal" that I could actually do it, and thus began her mentorship to helping me perform throughout my life.
Merry Christmas to one and all, thank you to the many businesses that have brought me in through the years and had a good laugh over this very simple and silly bit. It has been fun to share with so many delighted audiences, large and intimate, and hopeful for many more to come.Show More

This one was requested recently by a friend who recalled my impression from over a decade ago, so I did it at the show they ...attended and may have to be a mainstay. We'll see!
What do you think and who else should I either bring back or add to the mix?Show More

Lately, its come at me with a fury: "Just be funny! ...Stop with anything but entertainment!" I get it..and have thought through it, trust me.
At the same time I also receive more private messages than I can release publicly with support from friends and new followers telling me to keep doing what I'm doing, which is incredibly helpful.
I also take courage from those before me who didn't mute themselves because they knew they had something greater to share.
Louis Armstrong was told by people his voice was too weird sounding to just sing, that he should only play the trumpet, and this is just one of countless examples of when someone has been told to just do one aspect of their voice. And then, they become known for that part of themselves as well!
The Promise is to share all that we have, and are, in order to bless the world as only we can. Keep shining, keep sharing, keep your light bright. Your voice isn't a mistake.Show More

Miracles happen folks! Through years of therapy I have recovered some voices and impressions I haven't done in a decade, and this is one of them. Last summer GnR returned to the set list, and is still a fan favorite.
I was surprised last week when I shared my Journey impression how many people had no idea I could sing, let alone have made a career of it. Thanks to the many who reached out asking if I was lip-syncing...that's a great compliment!
I have to attribute the recovery of this voice and bit to Cardio Miracle and the therapeutic benefits of nitric oxide replenishing my voice after each performance. For me, it's just one of many miracles this product has changed my life by taking consistently, and has helped so many of my speaker and entertainer friends who fight through voice issues, and yet another reason I'm always talking about it.
Hope this brings a laugh!

As Louis Armstrong and ...I were born with differing skin colors, cancel culture created the myth that I shouldn't be allowed to do this musical tribute to one of the greatest singers, performers, and artists of all-time, in the midst of a show where I was doing voices from people around the world.
What a Wonderful World may be one of the most joyful songs ever created, and the way Louie sang it brings a smile to everyone. This has never been a parody, but rather a true tribute to the unforgettable way in which he sang it.
Yes, I go all in. Google Louie and you'll see I capture what he did with his face, body, and voice, even if not perfect it teaches the Promise of being fully committed to the bit. I hope you enjoy.
Recently I was able to share this impression in a show to an adoring audience of differing religious views, politics, cultures, and race, all who appreciated it fully. I'm still shocked at how sensitive our country has become to moments that create the illusion of division while those in the audience would never think of it that way, thus cyclically killing our ability to create culture, togetherness, and community. Sing it anyway!
I also hope you'll start bringing back to your stage the ways in which the world has tried to create rules that are not real, and that you will share your talents as only you can. This is what I bring. I hope you'll bring yours, and keep The Promise.Show More
