Did AI Write This Post or Did I?

  Let me guess. You can easily determine between what is written by AI and what’s not. You take great pride in this ability. You catch it in your feed before the hundreds who commented using bots as their autoresponder. So the question is this: Did AI write this post or did I? I assume you’ll be able to easily know by the end, if you read that far. Or perhaps you’ve already figured it out? I’ll give you the answer so you don’t have to read this whole dang thing: This blog, and all of my posts, books, content, are written by me. Here’s a video where someone asked me privately if it was AI, while another commented publicly, “Bro, aren’t you a comedian?” You can read my response on the video.     Is that video AI or is it me? I Finally Made it to College

  If you’ve heard me speak you know my story about having a full-ride scholarship for basketball to a major university (BYU) when I was in high school and feeling good about my future in the NBA. Suddenly, I was discovered by Mrs. Hall, the choir teacher, who pointed me in the right direction for life, as I left my basketball career on the bench, and became a singing entertainer who speaks and writes books. Going to Las Vegas instead of college was a real big swing of a dream, and thankfully worked out. But I always wondered what it would have been like to get into college. I have spoken at many colleges, to thousands of students, leaders, university presidents, faculty, staff, award-winning teachers, and higher education establishments nationwide, but was never actually in college. I Tore My Jaw On Stage. Now What?

Hi. I make a living opening my mouth – to speak, make people laugh, and sing at the top of my lungs. This unique attribute of opening my mouth extra wide has become so prevalent in my presentations it is known as my Signature Move, and was even once the cover of my book (although that was a terrible choice and has mostly disappeared from the face of the earth, thank goodness). If you find a copy just know it is a rare thing! On December 2, 2025 I was asked to speak to a group of young folks by a very successful friend of mine. I haven’t spoken to youth in a while, for many reasons, but mostly because the style of entertainment I do is so foreign to their TikTok attention spans it is tough to feel like it’s connecting. How Are You Utilizing AI in Your Business?

Have you ever asked AI to create a custom song describing your holiday party performance? My man, Nick Sales, who shot this video, and edited it, after a very intimate private event last weekend in SLC, UT, just sent this to me. Hilarious! The words are amazing and bizarre. It feels like an 80’s TV show theme song. Love it. 😂 Oh, AI music creator, we have such a bright future together. 💯   ~ Question is: How are you utilizing AI in your business now and into the future?  In 2024 I spent ample amounts of time learning and using ChatGPT, as I was working on making 20 videos per month in one sitting over 8 hours of recording that required at least 10 minutes of unique content in each video, and I just didn’t have the time to come up with that much material. Yearbook Photos Promise

  Do you remember yearbook photo day? I sure don’t. This past week I have tried with all my might to recall those times, with little success, as all that lives on are the final product, which for me was never the photo I’d hoped it would turn out to be, and so I’ve hidden those books and photos away. Rather than dig my yearbooks out of bins in the attic and prove to you that I look far better today as a silver fox than I did back then as a mix between Bert, Ernie, and Opie from The Andy Griffith Show, I instead share with you the funniest yearbook photos idea I’ve ever seen, compliments of my own sons. My boys have decided to make as many moments fun and memorable as possible, this is their Promise to themselves, and it equally enriches our lives as parents and family. When Executives Keep The Promise – The Legend of Troy Nix AMBA

  This week I witnessed something I’ve never seen done on stage at any event in my nearly 25 years of attending conferences worldwide. In Grand Rapids, MI, the Executive Director of AMBA, arrived on stage in a suit and tie, delivering a stirring motivational speech as good as any of my hall of fame speakers could give, and proceeded to prove his point about leaning into the discomfort by climbing into an ice barrel after filling it with water and ice, while cranking out more of his speech. Amazing!     He challenged the audience to commit to something at this conference, by standing and declaring into the mic what their promise would be, which would finally allow him to remove himself from the ice plunge. I was stunned to see the audience sit there and somewhat enjoy knowing he was suffering! A small chuckle came over the group…and eventually, a generous soul, made the commitment Troy was looking for, as he leaped from the ice tub. Incredibly, he somewhat toweled off, and delivered the rest of his keynote in ice cold clothing, dripping and soaked, which no doubt was the tougher part of the speech!     This

Talking with a Human

  My cell phone number is on the Home Page of my web site. It is also strewn about the internet in every place possible. For years I refused to have my number out there, due to the distraction and lack of privacy it afforded me, as well as having managers, agents, and others deal with the requests. It was helpful, as it kept me out of arm’s reach from the crazies, and there are crazies out there that will stalk you. But then I remember an issue I had that could not be resolved where I called a company and absolutely, no matter what, couldn’t get a hold of a human. The automated process was unresolvable in every way, and I could never get someone on the phone to clarify my issue. I lost a great deal of money due to this issue and never speaking to a human. It was that day I changed one of the biggest rules of my business: My cell phone was now published everywhere. The Promise in my business became COMMUNICATE as much as possible, be infinitely reachable, and even over-communicate where necessary. No Tipping Allowed

In my home state, there is a new bagel shop in town that does NOT allow customers to leave a tip. The owner of Cheryl’s Bagels, Cheryl Mignone, says she was tired of having to tip someone for doing next to nothing and shaming them into tipping once the iPad was turned towards them. Here’s a link to the Story. Certainly, there are jobs that need tipping – such as when service is rendered and I know their livelihood depends on it – but I too feel the “Tipping for Everything” moment has gotten out of hand.  In fact, the other day, at a newsstand in the airport, I grabbed my own premade sandwich and drink and was suddenly faced with the obligatory How Much Do You Want to Tip question. I felt a rush of guilt, as I didn’t feel the person, who hadn’t moved and was still looking at their iPhone, had barely greeted me and simply asked, “Cash or Card?” Do you tip in this situation? For me, I have a hard time with it. I like that Cheryl, the bagel shop owner, is taking a stand in the place in which she owns and runs things.

The Drinking Fountain Promise

  Most people only know that the drinking fountain spout sits one way. They may never think about any reason to move it, and so we lean over and stick our face under the spout to catch the flowing water, or place our water bottle angled just right to catch some of it. Such as this photo:     One of the great challenges for those of us who drink so much water we need to fill our water bottles mid-workout, is the angle of the spout never allows you to fill your bottle properly. You will lose about 1/3 of the water you could fill, if it weren’t for the angle, as it trickles out. If you have TikTok or Instagram, maybe you’ve seen this super handy trick, of turning this little fountain spout the other way:     Did you know you can actually turn a majority of water fountain spouts in order to have a perfect angle and fill the water bottle to full? Recently I was talking among friends about my Health Promise and daily routine of going to the gym by riding my bike back and forth before and after a challenging workout. I love this routine, as it is downhill, takes 15 minutes, and is the perfect pre-workout exercise as I joyfully fly to my gym, VASA. I then push the weights in the gym as hard as I can for 30-45 minutes, sit in the sauna for 10-15 minutes, and instead of returning to the parking lot to my car (as I will in the winter when it’s snowing), I put my helmet on and begin the arduous climb uphill to my home on the bike, which takes about 20 minutes. My buddy razzed me by saying to our friend, “Yeah, but remember, it is an eBike!” They laughed in my face, both much more fit than me, as they would never resort to using an eBike due to their histories of triathlons, OrangeTheory and CrossFit, and it was a friendly dig among pals, but also certainly rubbed me the wrong way.
