It’s one of those moments every parent knows is coming—but still hopes goes perfectly.
Your child needs their wisdom teeth removed.
For us, it came just before a major life moment—our son preparing to leave on a two-year church mission to Antigua, Guatemala, a beautiful place… but not exactly where you want to deal with complications from oral surgery.
So yes—we were nervous.
You’ve heard the stories:
The swelling. The pain. The uncertainty.
And of course… whatever comes out of your kid’s mouth on the way back from anesthesia.
Suddenly, you’re not just a parent—you’re the decision-maker.
Choosing the right person matters.
That’s exactly where we found ourselves.
And what we experienced was far more than a routine procedure.
It completely changed the way we think about oral surgery.
Enter: Dr. Dayne Jensen at Legacy Heights
We were referred by a trusted friend—the kind who does her homework and only recommends the best. She led us exactly where we needed to go.
From the first interaction, Dr. Jensen stood out.
Kind. Patient. A great sense of humor.
But more than that—he genuinely cared.

Our son Romney (18), trying to be brave, had two main concerns:
- “I don’t want it to hurt like my siblings said it would…”
- “Please record me when I wake up…just in case I do something funny.”
(Reasonable priorities.)
Dr. Jensen immediately connected with him. There was a level of comfort and trust that’s rare to find in any medical setting—he felt like family.
* The Procedure
Romney was taken back to the surgery room by two friendly assistants, who made him feel comfortable and welcome, had him watch a video that covered everything about to happen, making sure he didn’t have any questions or concerns.
And then they turned on the gas…and he was out within seconds.
The surgery? 15 minutes.
The same two wonderful assistants welcomed Romney back once he woke up, helping him gain consciousness and enjoying his personality with his gauze filled mouth.
Everything with the surgery went perfectly.
When Dr. Jensen came to get us, he was smiling:
“Well… Romney woke up singing his heart out. I think he’s doing just fine.”
And sure enough—we captured some of the funniest videos we’ve ever seen.
Our usually calm, reserved son?
Singing at full volume:
- “Sherry”
- “Kissed By A Rose”
We may never let him forget it. I even wrote an entire BLOG POST about it for a keepsake.
* Here’s What Truly Set This Apart
Great surgery is one thing.
Great care is something else entirely.
From the moment we walked through the door at Legacy Heights, we felt important and in the care of those we could trust.
- We were welcomed with exceptional reception;
- The assistants were thoughtful, fun, and gave us ample information on the best way to recover once home;
- The surgeon was precise, friendly, and caring.
In fact, Dr. Jensen gave us his personal cell number—“just in case.”
And a few days later… we needed it.
Romney experienced unexpected, intense pain. So, we called.
The Doctor answered. Immediately!
He told us to come in right away, identified the issue (food stuck—ouch), fixed it, and made sure Romney was comfortable before we left.
No runaround. No waiting. No guesswork. No “we can get you in a few weeks from now…”
Just immediate, quality, personal care.
What a difference from so many medical experiences we have been through all these years, thus the reason for writing this post!
* Final Thought
If you’re facing oral surgery for someone you love, know this:
There is a right choice.
For us, it was Legacy Heights and Dr. Dane Jensen—a team that delivers not just results, but reassurance, professionalism, and even a little unexpected joy along the way.
They didn’t just meet expectations. They over-delivered on our hopes, and that is rare nowadays.
They kept The Promise.
And that’s why we’ll tell everyone we know.
With gratitude,
The Hewlett Family
